SketchUp just gets better! March 11, 2009 David Beale (Trimley St. Mary, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
SketchUp has been a splendid program for a while now and its just getting better and better - this book supports SketchUp splendidly. Written in a style that is neither patronising or too technical it supports SketchUp really well. I am a fairly long term user of SketchUp but I found plenty in the book that I didn't know and I have enjoyed reading about one of my favourite programs - SketchUp.5/5
A good all round book December 15, 2009 Adam Isaaks (Lincoln, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book cna be used in two ways;
1. You can be a total beginner and just read it cover to cover and will do just fine and learn some cool techniques.
2. Like me, you can have a general idea of how to use Google SketchUp but want to learn how to export to AutoCAD or something like that, learn some new drawing techniques.
Either way this book is brilliant, I found it very intersting and intuitive for my studies. As Google SketchUp has been recogonized by the Government as a program very useful and adept for architecture, I feel this will just grow and Google SketchUp will be used everywhere as a basic 3D modelling program. But to just be able to know SketchUp is fun in itself so everyone should have a go at it!!
One of the best 'For Dummies' I have bought. July 12, 2009 C. M. Jordan (UK) This book is really good, it clears up all sorts of little problems that you come across in Sketchup in a clear and consise manner. You find yourself thinking 'ahh...so thats what thats for!' or 'so that's how you do it!' while reading the book. Very good and largely without the usual tooth-grating cuteness of these American publications.
Well worth the money, if you want to get fluent with Sketchup buy it!
Well thumbed September 21, 2009 G. Stanesby (UK) This book was perfect for me starting up using 3D modeling on a pc!! (in an office that uses Auto cad) after years on a mac using vectorworks
sketch up for dummies tells you all the little tricks and shortcuts essential for making 3D life easier
all in all a well thumbed little book
The SketchUp bible March 2, 2008 burntfacedjake (A small island) 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
This book is an invaluable reference if you need something more than the Google help files and video tutorials available through SketchUp. When used with Chopra's YouTube videos you can be using the software to model almost anything within a few hours of drawing your first lines. I've knocked a mark off because it doesn't cover the Sandbox tools which admittedly are only availble in the Pro version, but some information on basic operation of these tools would have been good. Otherwise worth every penny. I don't know how Chopra's new Wiley book on SketchUp compares but it would need to go much further than this if it were to be worth its much higher price tag.
